How will people remember you when you’re gone?
Are people happy to see you come, or happy to see you leave?
Does the atmosphere in the house change when you get home? Is it for better or worse?
Will family tell stories about how loving you were or will your life be a cautionary tale? Maybe a little bit of both….?
These are questions that I often reflect on, both about myself and about others. We’ve all got flaws and we can all work on those flaws.
When we reflect on these types of questions, it helps us to become better people.
Better friends. Better parents. Better partners. Just better humans.
I pray that people remember me with fondness…. I’m not planning on going anywhere anytime soon, but I’m working on being the best person that I can be now.
And it’s NEVER too late to change!
When I was growing up, my dad traveled and we lived in two very different home environments. One was peaceful and carefree and the other was tense, and uncomfortable. We would walk on egg shells when we knew Dad was coming home. The whole atmosphere changed, like the oxygen was sucked out of the room.
Then, he changed! He repented for his behavior and became the kind of man who left deep friendships in his wake, including with me!
When he died, the only thing that people remembered about him was his kindness and his heart of love for others!
It’s never too late to change!
